able to provide services that more efficiently facilitate commerce
across the Internet. Simply put, .BIZ means business.
2. Why do I want a domain name ending with
.BIZ?
There are already more than six and a
half million domains registered in the
.COM top level domain. Most of the good, short, easy to remember names
in .COM
are already taken by someone else. The .BIZ top level domain
will be
introduced, November 7, 2001, so there is plenty of new, empty real estate, with excellent names
still available. In .BIZ you can have a domain name that fits your business,
idea, information about your main domain, family or other name more closely. Protect
your bussiness name, and register the .BIZ domain TLD.

8. Dot-BIZ &
Domainnames
A domain name is simply an address on the World Wide
Web. Or, put another way, it's a unique alpha-numeric designation
that helps locate a particular computer on the global information
network.
Dot-Biz works just like dot-com. Both are called top
level domains, or TLDs in techspeak. Dot-com and dot-edu are
examples of generic domains. Other examples are dot-net, and dot-org,
and dot-cc.
To allow room for growth, the designers of the Domain Name System
also created now new top level domain names which will be available
soon! .Info will launch "live" October 1, .biz is planned
to go "live" November 7th, 2001. [Question Not Answered?]
9. Do .BIZ domain names have any restrictions?
Yes. The .BIZ domain can only be used for a "bona fide
business or commercial use". A bona fide business use is one
of the following:
to exchange goods, services, or property of any kind;
in the ordinary course of trade or business; or
to facilitate (i) the exchange of goods, services,
information, or property of any kind; or, (ii) the ordinary
course of trade or business
Registering a domain name solely for the purposes of (1)
selling, trading or leasing the domain name for compensation, or
(2) the unsolicited offering to sell, trade or lease the domain
name for compensation does not constitute a "bona fide
business or commercial use" of that domain name.
For illustration purposes, the following do not constitute a
"bona fide business or commercial use" of a domain name:
using or intending to use the domain name exclusively for
personal, noncommercial purposes; or
using or intending to use the domain name exclusively for the
expression of noncommercial ideas (i.e., registering abcsucks.biz
exclusively to criticize or otherwise express an opinion on the
products or services of ABC company, with no other intended business
or commercial purpose).
